Untitled
Valentina D'Amaro, 2004
In Valentina D’Amaro’s practice, the landscape is first photographed, then the image is transformed into a drawing on canvas, which is subsequently covered by slow and deliberate layers of oil paint.
The protagonist in her paintings is the spontaneity of nature, the vivid, vibrant emerald color of meadows framed only by lush trees.
The depicted scene seems to be frozen, captured in an eternal moment.
The carefully studied composition of the image conveys a sense of calm, while at the same time, a sense of mystery pervades the entire painting.
