As a child, I used to dive in from the shore. My father would watch me with pride, and to me it felt as if I were brushing against deep and dangerous waters. I would collect anything that was not round, because I was convinced I would find crystals. I would grab something, then resurface and show it to my father, lifting it toward the sky, as if it were the light that recognized it.
